Introduction
The theme was California cab versus Bordeaux blends and we had a very strong showing with some of the older California wines holding their own and then some. 
2004 Château Larrivet-Haut-Brion
France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Blind - guessed Bordeaux.
Cloudy garnet color. Ever so slight bricking at the edges. Nose is muted. Palate is light cassis fruit and elegant mouthfeel.

2005 Château Guiraud
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Very nice wine. This was the last wine I tasted for the day and figured the palate and attention span were depleted but this really popped out of the glass. It shows huge amount of mineral mid palate cutting right throw the sticky. The mouthfeel wasn't gritty but my brain was searching for it based on the limestone notes.

2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve

Blind - guessed California napa.
Very dark purple, almost oil. Nose has a leather quality. Tannins are fine but still aggressive, still young. Excellent dark fruit and black currant. Slight drying finish. Super wine with a long life.

1982 Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain Ranch Vineyard

Blind. Torn between old cali and Bordeaux, went French. Buzz.
Color is burnt brick, looks like a mature wine. Nose is distinctive redwood, every interesting. Palate consist do orange peel, light red fruit, and fennel. Medium finish and gentle mouthfeel.

2000 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Blind - guessed Bordeaux.
Plum color with light brick edges. Palate is excellent with tremendous complexity. Blood, iodine, saddle leather, and cherry fruit. Medium plus finish.

Blind - guessed Bordeaux. Wrong.
Dark garnet color, seriously this is 20 years old? Perfume, cherry, licorice, and light in the mouth. Medium finish. Good stuff.

1999 Château Troplong Mondot
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Blind - guessed California.
Red plum color and the nose is very muted. Tannins are fully resolved and the red fruit remaining is mild. Finish is soft. Just OK.

2010 Château Marquis d'Alesme

Blind - guessed California.
Very dark purple color hints at its youth. Nose is shut down, not sure if this was decanted. Chalky limestone, blackberry, and anise. Finish is nice but dry as the structure is still in control. Good juice.

Blind - guessed Bordeaux.
Medium dark color with light brick edges. Big nose of stewed fruit and funk. Touch of Brett on the palate with sweet blackberry. Slight sweet ending and medium/short length.

Very dark cherry color. Aromas and palate are sweet oak and ripe red fruit. Short finish. Definitely new world.

Sweet oak and very fruit forward. Medium finish and tannins add a dry note. Very surprised this isn't cali cab. Oh well!

Medium dark color and very good clarity. Sweet aromas pour out of the glass. Very fruit forward. Sweet cherry flavor, oak, and mocha.
Medium plus finish.

Blind - guessed Bordeaux. Wrong.
Good complexity with some resin aroma and sweet wood notes. Well balance and the tannins are fine but present and show in the finish with a bit of drying. Nice.

This was damn good. Didn't get detailed as I was sipping on this while i was playing Texas Holdem poker. Very refreshing, good fruit and excellent balance.

Deep purple color. When you see "blue fruit" as a descriptor I'll always think about this wine. Big dose of blueberry and boysenberry fruit, quite yummy. Strong showing and it should get better as it matures.
