Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2013 Gorka Izagirre Bizkaiko Txakolina 87 Points

    Spain, País Vasco, Bizkaiko Txakolina

50% Hondarribi Zuri (Courbu Blanc) and 50% Hondarribi Zerratia (Petit Courbu). Clean, fresh and floral style, carbon dioxide was not retained, hint of salinity, nice yellow fruit, light and very drinkable.

  • 2012 Gorka Izagirre Bizkaiko Txakolina 42 by Eneko Atxa 89 Points

    Spain, País Vasco, Bizkaiko Txakolina

Very similar profile to the standard Gorka Izagirre, but rounded out and filled out by two months on new barrique, with more intensity and weight (100% Hondarribi Zerratia - Petit Courbu), not dominated by the oak at all, just a hint of bitters on the finish; good length.

  • 1994 R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Tondonia 93 Points

Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja

A blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, 10% Mazuelo and Graciano, ten years on oak. Yet another Tondonia that has everything. Mature appearance but not bricked through; wonderful nose, warm and glowing, red fruit, evolved aromas; elegant, delicate, perfectly harmonious and silky-sweet, almost resolved tannins, great finesse, nothing out of place, gentle, seems fully mature; very good length.

  • 2010 Gorka Izagirre Bizkaiko Txakolina Arima Vendimia Tardia 89 Points

    Spain, País Vasco, Bizkaiko Txakolina

Late harvest, 100% Hondarribi Zerratia (Petit Courbu), aged in new and two year old oak. Fresh and floral, delicately sweet, lovely acidity, quite discreet flavours, oak just rounds it off, hint of bitters, ripe grapes.

  • NV Bodegas Infante Brandy D. Infante Gran Reserva, 37% 89 Points

    Spain, Andalucía, Condado de Huelva

Very rich colour, deepened by the addition of Pedro Xímenez and Mistelas; sweet, caramel, nuts, deep, intense and rich, not trying to mimic Cognac or Armagnac, round and rich, soft, no trace of heat, rounded out by the Olorosos blended in.
