Another rare and excellent opportunity to understand vineyards and producers by tasting the wine and discussing with the producers. These are listed in the sequence of the tasting note book, not the sequence I tasted (which was to go through all the reds, then the whites). Once again, i didn't have time to taste everything.

Tasting, brief note. Lots of lemon, lime, some apple. Dense and firm start-to-finish. Slightly backward now, but great excitement and energy in long, powerful finish. I slightly preferred the 2007 tasted next.

Tasting, brief note. Dense, meaty and large in every way. Powerful red fruit with roast meat and savory spice. Firm and tannic to start, then huge and dense fruit in middle. A serious, backward, brooding wine today that is a fascinated contrast with the '09 tasted next, which is a real charmer. I think this 2010 will be more interesting long-term, but that won't be until around 2025.

Tasting, brief note. Much like I remember from La Paulee 2012, this is large scaled, powerful and very concentrated. Sweet and ripe fruit give you a great sense of this wine's potential, but it is just in its infancy for the complexity that will unfold. Very long and exciting, but I actually preferred the 2010 in the same vertical. Excellent.

Tasting, brief note. Red and black fruit aromas and flavors. Starts out very approachable, then picks up weight and intensity towards middle and finish, making it perhaps less fun, but more nuanced for long-term development.

Tasting, brief note. Ripe black berries dominate the nose with floral hints, some mushroom, cloves and dried herb. Lots of fresh, ripe fruit flavors to start, with energy and textural elements unfolding through medium-to-long finish. Very balanced.

Tasting, brief note. Lots of power, concentration and weight. Charming and approachable, but with so much extract and intensity that layers of flavors will emerge in the upcoming decades.

Tasting, brief note. Lots of ripe apple aromas and flavors to start with some peach hints. Apple, lemon, lemon custard from middle to finish. Very long and intense with excellent structure and texture with minerality to spare. Even better than I remember from a year ago.

Tasting, brief note. Lots of orchard fruit, some lemon. Very good minerality and acidity helps provide good balance. Surprisingly forward and accessible. Similar to the 2010 on a slightly smaller scale, less ripe than 2009 in the vertical.
