Introduction
Over the last few years, pioneering grape growers and wine makers in Chile have been busy seeking out new vineyard locations to take advantage of the country's special geography and climate. We are just starting to see the early results of their work and very impressive they are too. Our selection of wines for this tasting will include some from Chile's growing number of small, boutique wineries - "Las Pequeñas", they call them.
2010 Leyda Riesling Neblina Vineyard 87 Points
Chile, San Antonio Valley, Leyda Valley
Very pale. Clear and bright. Very expressive nose of apples and wax. Intense green apple with a twist of lime on the palate. Good minerality.

2012 Emiliana Gewürztraminer Adobe Reserva 86 Points
Chile, Rapel Valley, Colchagua Valley
Pale straw colour. Clear and bright. Hints of rose and wet stone minerality. Quite thin. Opens up with some time showing more rose notes and good acidity.

Pale, clear and bright. Quite sharp on the nose with stone fruits. Peachy with medium length and good acidity.

Light, low intensity. Cherry red. Raspberry and blueberry nose - quite simple. Simple fruit driven.

Very intense. No sign of age. Earthy nose, warm spice. Fruit driven - plums. Ripe with some earthiness and good length.

Very deep intense colour. Floral violets and powerful black pepper on the nose. Perfumed, good intensity with more violets on the palate. Peppery.

2009 Odfjell Syrah Armador 88 Points

Clear and bright. Very intense. Cassis cassis cassis with some pepper. Very fruity with good length and acidity. Perhaps a touch burnt. Surprisingly not hot with the bold fruit balancing the high alcohol.

Clear and bright with some thinning at the edge. Furniture polish and moth balls on the nose. Wardrobe. Very developed. Great length. Linear.

2006 Lapostolle Family Selection 89 Points

Family blend for private consumption. High intensity with a slight colour change. Good development on the nose with blackcurrant and spice and perhaps a touch of green pepper. Good black fruit and acidity. Meaty and long.
