Introduction

Innovative five-course dinner prepared by Jesse Skiles and his amazing team of co-chefs, wines paired with Trey Busch of famed Sleight of Hand Cellars. Orchestrated by Michael Alberty of Storyteller Wine Co.
Both the food and wines speak for themselves, but paired together, the night was magic and music.

Flight 1 (1 Note)

Lobster bisque, celery root & lobster salad

Flight 2 (1 Note)

Swiss chard ravioli with brebis cheese and five herbs, including stinging nettles

  • 2011 Sleight of Hand The Spellbinder

    USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

Blend of Merlot, Cab Sauv, Malbec, Sangiovese, Syrah
Sweet black licorice scents=Good and Plenty, maple, eucalyptus, toasted cigar box and herbaceousness. Shy to start this conceded with graphite, dark fruit, bramble and rhubarb. Somewhat drying, this finished softly and winding with toasted fennel seed and root stalk.

  • 2010 Sleight of Hand Cabernet Sauvignon The Illusionist

    USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

Blend of Cab Sauv., Petite Verdot, Merlot
Wafted of charcoaled coffee beans, young black fruit, forest floor and mushrooms. Beef on the tongue with savory grilled hickory smoked meats and rehydrated dried black cherries, this was tight as a top hat, dry and lovely. Plenty of intrigue, fantastically balanced, this was my favorite of the night.

  • 2012 Renegade Wine Co. Rosé

Characteristic grapefruit top notes along with strawberries, chervil and chalk aromas. Big, soft and tart Oregon strawberries showing crisp, biting acidity, and ruby grapefruit. Steely, sharp and cleansing as it goes down.

  • 2012 Sleight of Hand Cabernet Franc Magician's Assistant Rosé

    USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

With a nose of tangerine peel, Chablis, saline sea mist and chalk like minerals, this was gorgeous. The palate is soft with blood orange, masonry, slate and rounded with an aspic like feel on the back end. Very interesting, boasts complexity.

Flight 6 (1 Note)

Bonus!

  • 2010 Sleight of Hand Cabernet Sauvignon The Black Circle Scooteney Flats Vineyard

USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain

Tar coated fruit, wafts of bold and spiced cherry, hedonistic and woody herbal toned aromatics run wind. This powerful cab is beaming with beguiling flavors of sarsaparilla root, copper, crushed stone, bell pepper, drying sloe berry and a sustained finish with incredible tannic grip. Give this 5-7 years to reach adulthood.
