Domaine Vincent Girardin tasting with Marco Caschera

Tasting of 10-15 wines from the 2006, 2008, and 2010 vintages from Domaine Vincent Girardin. Hosted by Marco Caschera from the domaine and organized by J&D Burleigh.

Was too caught up with drinking and chatting that I neglected to take proper notes for all the wines which were tasted.

• 2006 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Echezeaux 92 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

  Not a very expressive nose. Good concentration; quite powerful. Dark fruit. Tannins quite nicely integrated. Long finish. Approachable now but will probably continue to improve for another 5+ years.

• 2006 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 92 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru

  A bit more open on the nose versus the '06 Echezeaux. Good intensity but still able to maintain some level of elegance. Dark fruits with a hint of mintiness. Prety well balanced with a long, enveloping finish. Like the Echezeaux, still has potential to improve but enjoyable to drink now.

• 2010 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Volnay Les Vieilles Vignes 89 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay

  Not as aromatic and more structured than what I would have expected. Feels a bit out of balance right now. High level of tannins. Would probably wait another 3 years to allow everything to come together.

• 2006 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Corton-Charlemagne 91 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

  Nicely rounded and rich on the palate but the wine still maintains good level of freshness. Citrusy/lemony flavors with a buttery texture. Hint of minerality. Medium plus finish.
