Lemon, lemon peel and even a bit of lemon custard. Massive minerality, this is only approachable because of fruit intensity, wonderful now but most likely better 2-4 years from now when less edgy.

Ultra ripe and lush with good concentration, but also certainly more advanced than i would ever expect from a 2005 at this level. 87 points based on this bottle tonight. Maybe slightly better to start, but less interesting even after open 30 minutes.

Served blind. All black and blue fruit with meaty character. Clearly very good, while clearly just way too young. I had never this wine until a couple of days ago, and tonight again I thought it a great wine that didn't really show traditional Chambolle character right now because it was so young. Blind tonight I thought it Gevrey 1er.

Tasted blind. Clearly identifiable as from Chambolle, and I certainly thought this also 1er. The Barthod 1er Cras in the next glass threw me off, but this wine's elegance and red berry + mineral-driven structure took me right to Roumier. As good as I recall from when tasted just after release.
Incredibly vibrant and enjoyable for a wine at this level from this age. Great balance of mushroom and red fruit hints. Good concentration all the way through, while quite clean for a wine from this era at this level.

Served blind. We all had a lot of fun with this wine at the end of a night of great Burgundy, which clearly this was NOT. This came across as very ripe, but we all thought it substantially older that its actual vintage. All enjoyed it considerably, but I certainly wouldn't hold any bottles any longer.

Served blind. We all had a lot of fun with this wine at the end of a night of great Burgundy, which clearly this was NOT. This came across as very ripe, but we all thought it substantially older that its actual vintage. All enjoyed it considerably, but I certainly wouldn't hold any bottles any longer.
