Lightish ruby hue, with some age apparent. Very toasted oak nose - verging on char, for my taste. A product of a cool vintage, this wine features deep and decent dark cherry fruit with masses of tannins and vibrant acidity. This is a good wine with a classic slightly rough mouthfeel. The amount and character of the oak handling troubles me somewhat.
Purple-ruby. Slightly dumb nose of sweet blackcurrant and burnt rubber. Classy palate-feel with excellent balance and fine-grained tannins. This is very modern in style and none the worse for it. Near outstanding, for me.
Lightish ruby - purple. 100% Sangiovese brings a spicy nose with some oxidative elements. Expressive in the mouth with a sophisticated flavour profile, finishing with oxidative walnut notes, and a drying tannic which I find attractive. A layered and sophisticated wine.

Dense purple-black. Very ripe and youthful blackberry nose with a fair whack of French oak. Very refined in the mouth, this wine features super ripeness and a satin texture. This is a big wine with noticeable heat in the finish, which adds to the experience, in my view. Outstanding.
Deep purple-ruby. Classy fruit, fried herbs and sophisticated oak nuance. In the mouth, the dried herbs echo but the overall impression is one of classic fruit/oak balance in a tannic, slightly drying framework. Beautiful.

Lots of very toasted oak make an appearance on the palate, which is smooth, refined and way too young. Inky in style with the menthol character on the nose making an appearance. This wine is hugely refined but it is so closed for business and lacking in any hint of openness (even considering its supple texture) that most people at the tasting actively disliked this wine. My view is that the wine simply needs 10 years to show its class.
