Introduction

Cristal 02 in the bridal suite before the wedding.

Excellent choice of relatively affordable yet very enjoyable Italian wines served at the wedding dinner. I saw many guests asking to have a look at the bottles.

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2002 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut 94 Points

    France, Champagne

Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow gold colour, fine bubbles, lots of effervescence.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of cream nougat, brioche, apple, peach, and a light florality. Developing.
On the palate, dry style, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of apples, peach, lemon, whipped cream mousse, and minerality. Long finish. Elegant. One of the best champs I have tasted so far.
Outstanding quality. Can drink now, but really such a waste not to wait for further development on this. Just to qualify, I wasn't the one that popped this baby so early.
