  • 2012 Bodegas Carrau Chardonnay de Reserva

    Uruguay, Rivera, Cerro Chapeu

Yellow color; a bit of butter, white flower, honey, candy cane, apple and poached pear; decent acid, lighter body; overall fairly bland.

  • 2011 Charles Francois & Fils Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Les Vignes de Deffend

France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune

Yellow green; creamy nose, faint vegetal, apple, grain, green tea; a touch of butter on the palate, very acidic and mineral driven on back end, lemon resonates; this bottle was more pent up and not showing its best- needed some air to coax it out but I would prefer another year or two of bottle age.

  • 2007 Jagini Zagersdorf

    Austria, Burgenland

Dark though see through maroon core with dull rim, shows some age; strong nose of cooked raspberry, very spicy, warm rock, nickel, black pepper, slight vegetal, strawberry; bright fruit on the palate, good acid, very interesting flavors, medicinal red fruit; very good.

  • 2005 Château Latour-Martillac

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Darker core with bricking rim; compost, warm earth, tobacco, currant, stank, meat, Christmas spice, classic Bordeaux; some coffee on the palate, grainy tannin, youthful yet open and drinking well, good structure, green pepper, generous yet hard at the same time.

  • 2009 Château Puech-Haut Coteaux du Languedoc Saint-Drézéry Bosc Negre

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Saint-Drézéry

Very dark core with reddish purple rim; brick dust, warm stone, bitter chocolate, sweet, roasted dark berry, bitter note, violets; very tannic on the palate, sweet, fig, good nobility but not as complex as the nose.

  • 2009 Frogtown Sangiovese Kritzer Reserve

    USA, Georgia, Lumpkin County

Semi-translucent dark crimson core with light rim; velvety nose of vanilla, a touch of sulfur, sweaty, coffee, and red apple skin; lighter body, velvety though tannins come in more on the finish, sharp red fruit; pretty decent though it tastes nothing like Sangio; could be a bit better with some more bottle age.

  • 2005 Ridge Grenache Lytton Estate

USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley

Semi-translucent deep rose crimson; sandalwood, medicinal cherry, green pepper, iron, warm, vanilla, licorice, acetaldehyde; dense and richer palate, softened with time but still grainy tannin, almost some sweetness, dark cherry, ripe, lower acid.

  • 2011 J.L. Chave Sélection Crozes-Hermitage Silène

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Crozes-Hermitage

Dark ruby purple to rim; Bandaid, raspberry, pepper, stone, nickel, warming; smooth texture, tart berry, some leather and Brett though still manageable, sour plum; hopefully this bottle was slightly off.
