Introduction

Wonderful presentation and guided tasting by George Sandeman.

  • NV Sandeman Porto White Porto

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Long legs.
    Pronounced intensity nose with nutty oxidative elements, while still maintaining fresh aromas of sweet pears and tropical fruits.
    On the palate, off-dry, crisp high acidity, high alcohol, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet pears, mango, melon, and a hint of vanilla. Long finish.
    My first time trying white Port.

  • NV Sandeman Porto Ruby

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Appearance is clear, medium intensity, bright ruby colour. Long legs.
    Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of sweet red fruits - cherries, strawberries, cranberries, fresh plums.
    On the palate, medium-sweet, high acidity, high alcohol, medium tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with rich flavours of cherries, strawberries, cranberries, fresh plums. Long finish.
    Fruity and enjoyable, too bad it only lasts 4 weeks once opened. My first time trying Ruby Port.

  • 2008 Sandeman Porto Late Bottled Vintage

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Appearance is clear, deep almost opaque intensity, dark ruby colour. Thick viscous long legs.
    Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of ripe plums, black cherries, chocolate, spice, light cedar wood.
    On the palate, sweet, high acidity, high alcohol, medium+ grippy tannins, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of ripe plums, black cherries, raisins, chocolate, and spice. Long finish.
    Sweetness and viscousity seems to overtake the high acidity.
    Best served with creamy chocolate-rich desserts.
    My first time trying an LBV Port.
    Modern style, lightly filtered before bottling.

    Medium- intensity oxidative nose, with aromas of ripe cherries and raspberries.
    On the palate, sweet, high acidity, high alcohol, medium- tannins, medium+ body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe cherry and raspberry. Medium+ finish.
    Simple Tawny Port.

    Pronounced oxidative nose, with aromas of caramel, toasted almonds, and some raisins.
    On the palate, sweet, high acidity, high alcohol, medium- soft tannins, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of caramel, toffee, toasted almonds, raisins. Long finish.

  • NV Sandeman Porto 20 Year Old Tawny

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Appearance is clear, pale intensity, tawny golden brown/amber colour. Long legs.
    Pronounced oxidative nose, with aromas of caramel, toffee, toasted almonds, honey, raisins.
    On the palate, sweet, high acidity, high alcohol, medium- soft tannins, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of caramel, toffee, toasted almonds, hazelnut, honey, raisins, and crème brulee. Very complex. Long satisfying finish.
