Introduction

A tasting where the best bottle from our cellars were used to create a magic evening of monumental experiences.
The wines were outstandingly matched by Jan Restorff from Søllerød Kro.
No real notes were taken during the dinner.

  • 1985 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 96 Points

    France, Champagne

    A perfect bottle which really showed how impressive Krug can be with age.
    Lovely depth, intensity and complexity. Shows aged apples and oak and a lot of power.
    A huge wine that I just adored.
    Paired perfectly with a dish using burnt bread, chicken skin and artichoke.

  • 2006 Weingut Keller Riesling G-Max 96 Points

    Germany, Rheinhessen

    Not as botrytis like as my previous bottle and overall showing very nice exotic flavors and a fair amount of minerality.
    Has evolved really well into a solid and impressive wine.
    A great wine that continues to impress as one of the best GG rieslings from Germany.

  • 1961 Château Cheval Blanc 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    Unfortunately the bottle seemed slightly cooked but still showing some nice flavors and intensity.
    It is however a little bit "muddy" and disjointed. Still some fruit but overall it didn't leave the best impression. Dang...
    Difficult to get a real impression of the wine.

  • 1972 Chateau Musar 97 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

    A huge wine with lots of complexity and super intensity. It really surprised me but this must be one of the greatest Musar wines ever made.
    It had a really lovely touch of mint leaves and elegant refreshing fruit with lots of acidity and a very nice balance and long aftertaste.

  • 1986 Château Mouton Rothschild 98 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    What a crazy wine!! Insane flavors depth and huge backbone for a wine with this amount of age.
    Loads of fruit but also packed with a harsh and tight tannin structure. Still needs a lot of time before it will be a real pleasure to drink.
    However, the wine is very impressive and shows how good Mouton can make wine. This will keep for a very long time!
    Consuming the wine over 3 hours didn't really evolve the wine but it could perhaps have been better with 6-9 hours of air before consumption.

  • 1989 Château Haut-Brion 99 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    Lush and full-bodied fruit flavors with a huge backbone. A monster wine that is also a pleasure to drink because the fruit is open revealing.
    A wine that will keep for ages and just a monumental wine! Everything is in balance with plenty of structure but still a huge pleasure to drink.
    Should in my mind be a clear 100p wine but on the night it didn't show it but it could just have easily be there with just a bit more air.

  • 1961 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon 92 Points

    France, Champagne

    No mousse anymore. It did show nicely but not as solid and as much depth as the 64+66 tasted next to it.
    Potentially a fake bottle as the label was quite different from the 64+66 but it was unmistakably a Dom P, perhaps just not the 61 in the bottle.

  • 1964 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon 97 Points

    Unfortunately there was no more bubbles left in the bottle but for once it didn't really matter.
    It has so much depth and flavor intensity that it could just as easily have been a huge white Burgundy.
    Packed with flavors of brown apple, popcorn with butter but still also a solid acidity.
    A huge wine!!

  • 1966 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon 97 Points

    France, Champagne

    Still had bubbles and was quite similar in flavor to the 64 but just not as deep but the bubbles pushed it into the same league.
    Plenty of brown apples and quite refined and refreshing acidity. Classic popcorn and butter in both nose and palate.
    Very impressive and an immense pleasure to taste this amazing bottle.
