Introduction
Mainly Bordeaux, with a Cahors and a Madiran brought by me. Glad that my classmates appreciated the 2 different French wines to break the monotony of the Bordeaux.
2011 Château Badie-La Forêt
France, Bordeaux
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of black fruit and spice. Youthful.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, medium+ tannins, medium- body. Medium- flavor intensity, with flavours of blackcurrant, dark plums, and spice. Short finish.
Acceptable quality Appellation Bordeaux Controlee. Drink now, will not improve with further ageing.

2008 Château Tour Seran
France, Bordeaux, Médoc
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasted oak, earthiness, green bell peppers and blackcurrant leaf. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, soft integrated medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium flavor intensity, with flavours of toasted oak, earth, leather, dried blackcurrant, and green bell peppers. Medium- finish.
Good quality Medoc. Drink now. At its peak. Not for further ageing. May start to decline very soon.

2010 Château Lanessan
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasted oak, vanilla, cedar, redcurrant and plums. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium+ approachable tannins, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of red plums, redcurrant, blackcurrant, toasted oak, vanilla, spice and licorice. Medium finish.
Good quality Haut Medoc. Can drink now. Will improve with further ageing, maybe another 5 years will be better, with tertiary development.

2011 Château Mayne Graves
France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purple colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of toasted oak, black cherries, blackberries, green bell peppers, spices ?cloves. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of toasted oak, vanilla, black cherries, blackberries, blackcurrant, plums, green bell peppers, sweet spices. Medium- finish.
Good quality Bordeaux Supérieur. Can drink now but still young, may improve with another 3-4 years age.

1998 Primo Palatum Madiran 90 Points
France, Southwest France, Madiran
Slow-oxed in bottle for a few hours before drinking.
Appearance is deep intensity, garnet colour. Sediments seen. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of toasted oak, vanilla, old leather, dried prunes. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium- acidity, medium alcohol, coarse chalky high tannins, full body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of toasted oak, vanilla, leather, dried prunes and some sour cherries. Medium+ finish.
Very good quality. Some bottle variation as this bottle tasted more mature than the previous bottled I tried before. The tutor felt that this was tired/past its best, but I feel that this bottle was still drinking well now, but maybe not for any more extended ageing as the fruit is already showing signs of declining.

2008 Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve Cahors Les Laquets 87 Points
France, Southwest France, Cahors
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purple colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium- intensity, aromas of herbs and green bell peppers. Youthful.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, coarse medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Really tight at first, the profile only opened up more after many hours of air. Medium- flavor intensity, with flavours of green bell peppers, blackcurrant, and blackberries. Just a slight touch of meatiness to suggest that this could be a Malbec. Quite a rustic feel overall.
Good quality. Still too young to drink. Will improve with further ageing. Try again in another 5+ years.

2010 Château Cruzeau 92 Points
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with wonderful aromas of sweet milk chocolate, vanilla oak, redcurrant, and sweet spice. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, firm grippy but very approachable medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavor intensity, with flavours of chocolate, vanilla oak, plush plums, reducrrant, cherries, blackberries, cinnamon. Medium+ finish.
Very good quality. Can drink now, and will improve with further ageing. The strength of the stellar vintage shines through, even from a lesser producer.

2005 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Réserve de la Comtesse
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium- intensity, with aromas of toasted oak and black fruits. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium+ alcohol, high puckering tannins, medium+ body. Initially quite tight, this took a while to show itself. Medium+ flavor intensity, with flavours of toasted oak, black cherries, blackberries, plums, and spice. Slight undertone of green herbaceousness.
Good quality. Can drink now, but will probably improve with further ageing, maybe another 3-4 years. People may rave about this 2nd wine of Pichon Lalande, and I agree it does have a certain standard quality to it, however I personally don't like this wine. Tried 2000, 2004, 2005, 2007.
