Magnum. Smooth, nicely off dry and fresh with decent balance. Not the overt ripeness I might have expected from 06. Proper Spätlese weight. A perfect aperitif or rich first course wine. ****

Magnum. Very rich on the nose. A touch of vanilla. Dry with lots of grip and extracts very dry and long. Needs time. Lime tang finish. Will be super. ***(*1\2)

Magnum. Initially quite aggressively citrusy on the nose, but very quickly this rounds out. A touch of custard apple but a light fresh top-note. Richer and fuller on the palate. A very tropical melon like profile that manages exoticism without any loss of elegance. ****

Magnum. Nicely rich on the nose. Sweet fruited. A touch of sous bois starting to develop. Still quite structured beneath the glossy top notes and after half an hour or so this tightens and loses the gloss. I think this has closed up again and needs another five years plys. A black tea element to the tannins on the finish. Fresh acidity. **(**)

Lovely maturing mulberry and vanilla nose. Classic maturing Rioja. Satisfying and absolutely à point now. Spot on with the lamb. ****

Ripe, slightly kirschy cherry fruit. Fresh with good acidity giving it some line and clarity. A little hot for me but very decent. Think it would have benefited from some meat or cheese protein. ****

Magnum. Fresh, minerally nose with lots of zing. Quite shrill with lemon sherbety top notes. Aperitif style. Pleasant enough but would have benefited from starting the meal rather than finishing it.needs a bit of time to mellow. ***

Magnum. Nicely rich, slightly bruised apple nose. Mousse a bit coarse through the middle though. Finishes well though, but doesn't feel as if it has the class of the 98. Very pleasant though. Coming back to it. Though, it has tightened up, found focus and line and the richer elements have melded. Far better. ****

Fuller, deeper, more oxidative. Full straw. Quite rich as one would expect. Opens up nicely. Ginger spice and vanilla. Really quite oxidative. ****
