Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2007 Rhys Chardonnay Alpine Vineyard 92 Points

    USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains

    mineral, light vanilla, on the nose. light peach and pear mid, creamy and thick middle with a long refreshing finish. Touch of alcohol present.

    this may have had a touch of TCA - but i am absolutely immune to it. and it did not seem to mar the wine too much since it was still very expressive.

  • 2005 Jean Bourdy Côtes du Jura Rouge 90 Points

    France, Jura, Côtes du Jura

    Sweet spice box on the nose, some funk/barn, strawberry very prominent with cherry coming in on the finish. Long finish, with a touch of tannins. Red fruit and spices dominate the wine. Very cool stuff.

  • 2000 Castello di Verduno Barbaresco Faset 89 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco

    mushrooms, plums and perfume on the nose. Cherry, refreshing mid. secondary notes here and rather resolved. good acidity. bit of heat on the finish but not overpowering. the nose was the best feature - still a solid wine and very good with food.
