Dinner at Librije restaurant, Zwolle, Netherlands. Great wines with great food and company. A lesson in mature Bordeaux.

    France, Champagne

    Lovely fresh nose, soft brioche and nuts. Taste delicate mousse and acidity, concentrated taste.

  • 1990 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon Oenothèque 94 Points

    France, Champagne

    Golden colour. Nose very fresh and attractive, toast, citrus. Nose gives an impression of younger champagne, but the complexity shows its age. Taste mature, concentrated, honey, spice, nuts, very intense. Very long finish. Wonderful.

  • 2011 Domaine Ramonet Bâtard-Montrachet 94 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

    Nose at first a bit young and restricted, mint and citrus. Nose opens up later on. Taste rich, lots of extract with great tension, fine acids, very balanced, slight bitterness. Long finish, just lingers on. Will probably get much better in time, however drinks already beautiful now.

  • 2005 Coche-Dury Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet

    Very intense expressive nose, mineral, Puligny like. Taste very concentrated, lots of fruit and structure, high acidity, all very balanced. Limited finish. Appears still young despite its age of 9 years.

  • 2001 Roagna Barbaresco Crichët Pajé 92 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco

    From Magnum. Burgundy like wine, not massive like italian wines can be, but elegant and understated, really like the style. Light red colour, nose tobacco and red fruit. Velvety red fruit taste, fresh, long beautiful finish.

  • 1990 Château La Mission Haut-Brion 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    Silky black fruit nose, some graphite, fresh. Taste full bodied, black fruit, medium acidity, tannins integrated. Velvety, completely mature, balanced, complex. My wine of the night, one of the best Bordeaux wines I have tasted.

  • 2001 Château La Mission Haut-Brion 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    Drank this after the 1990 version, what a difference! This is still young, lots of black fruit in nose and taste, lots of flesh on the palate. Alcohol is noticible in the taste. Long finish. Great wine, needs more time in bottle.

    Sexy, soft nose. Mature, still very fresh. Red fruit, tobacco, some mushroom. Lovely wine.

    Refined Sauternes, fresh, apricot, honey, figs, some caramel. Medium bodied, good botrytis.
