  Aromas of blueberry, plum and prunes followed up by lightly spiced and peppery plum flavors on the palate. Medium body and quite astringent, with a fruity nose but more oaky palate.

  Chile, Rapel Valley, Colchagua Valley

  Nose of raspberries and cherries, with more sour cherries, currants and plum on the palate. The wine also has some green flavors and quite high acidity for a malbec, which should make it a versatile food wine.

• 2010 Château de Mercuès Cahors 88 Points

  France, Southwest France, Cahors

  Aromas of pepper, leather and blackberries is followed up by earthy gravel and distant plum on the palate. Very earthy and high tannin, which makes the wine quite aggressive on its own. Comes out better when combined with a piece of meat.

  Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo

  Fruity aromas of blueberries and plum turns more creamy and smooth on the palate with cherry and cassis flavors. Very fruity wine even on the finish, and highly enjoyable on its own.

• 2009 Finca 8 Malbec Reserva 88 Points

  Argentina, Mendoza, Valle de Uco

  Aromas of plum with more plum, sour cherries and some spice on the palate. Undefined green flavors interrupts the fruit, together with more oak than expected for a malbec. Personally I think these grapes were the victim of too much "winemaking" which took the wine in an undesirable direction.
