  • 1997 F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Von den Terrassen 87 Points

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

    Colour: Light golden, quite young.
    Nose: Citrus & Pineapple mixed with a "stony" component. Not a wine that jumps out of the glass. Maybe it needs some more time.
    Palate: Nice mineral kick on the mid-palate. Again citrus & crashed rocks, acidity is there. Good structure. Medium finish.

    Colour: Very ripe in colour. Dark golden.
    Nose: Honey, mango, pineapple and arugula. Very ripe, opulent, extroverted nose.
    Palate: Very ripe on the palate too. A bit of acid is still there but definitely reached its peak. Reminds me a bit of acid citrus drops. Short finish. Drink up now.

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

    Colour: Intense golden.
    Nose: A bit of pineapple, kohlrabi, acica honey, ripe peach and a hint of apricot. Everything is in a good balance. Nice nose.
    Palate: Lush & juicy with a nice spicy component on the palate. Covered every piece of your mouth. Medium+ finish. Still some years to go.

    Colour: Intense golden.
    Nose: Exotic nose with aromas of mango, pineapple, overripe peach and some honey. Also a nice minerality is coming through.
    Palate: A medium+ bodied wine which is mineraly driven but also has a nice little sweet touch on it. Love the saltiness on the mid-palate + aftertaste. Lovely juicy & spicy. Oily texture. Looong finish. Very good stuff.

  • 2000 Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Honivogl 95 Points

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

    Colour: Very intense golden colour.
    Nose: This is just so unbelivable beautiful mix of quince, apricote, honey, acacia honey, lychee and orange peel. I found a creamy component too. Also already very lush & opulent on the nose.
    Palate: Wow, opulent & juicy but simultaneously so elegant. Not overripe at all. Mineral & powerful mid-palate. Very, very long on the finish.

    One of the best white wines I´ve ever had and my WOTN.

    Colour: Brilliant Gold
    Nose: Rich nose with aromas of apricote, honey, slate, lemon and a bit of white pepper.
    Palate: Good minerality, very, very opulent with a lot of exotic fruit. A bit of honey too. Full bodied and a lot of power. Long finish.
