Introduction
Nice little selection starting with petite chateau Bordeaux and going up from there - mostly left bank - from the excellent 2010 vintage.

Interesting wines. My pick of the bunch were probably the doyac and the haut bergey at this stage. Bumped into Mr Jones whilst I was there who gave me his top tip for storing unfinished wine - jam jars and an Argon spritzer- not that I ever really have unfinished wine...
2010 Domaine de Laubertrie
France, Bordeaux
aromas of leather farmyard, brambles, slight mint and cedar. In the mouth the wine has tough, savoury, slightly acrid tannins which dominate muted flavours of yeast extract, brambly green fruit. A little alcohol warmth and spice conjoin on the finish. Nah

2010 Château Doyac
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
Slightly dusty notes on the nose with aromas of toast, savoury blackcurrant and, perhaps, a touch of earthy/dirtiness. In the mouth the wine has black fruit flavours, chewy ripe tannin and a nice acidic lick. Actually it has excellent structure and balance. Medium length. A little simple perhaps but still quite young, good value at $25 AUD.

2010 Château Tour de Mirambeau Cuvée Passion
France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur
Muted nose reveals better quality oak; cream, vanilla, spice, over concentrated but not overripe black currant fruit. In the mouth there are flavours of ripe black currants with chalky, but fine, tannin. It lacks a little acidity for me and finishes a little short. Feels quite worked. Hmm.

2010 Château Haut-Chaigneau
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol
Plums! Other aromas include a slightly herbaceous, almost mint, note underpinning chocolate. Quite fruit forward - I'm also picking up a bit of blackcurrant and some sweet spices - nutmeg and clove. In the mouth the blackcurrant is more to the fore and joins the plums. Also some spices here. Structurally it's a little flabby and there are chewy chalky tannins that are ripe. Medium plus length. Pleasing but, perhaps, a little obvious? Okay.

2010 Château Sénéjac
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
Brambles, blackcurrants, mint, almost black cherry fruit, very ripe fruit to the fore on the nose over cream and vanilla. In the mouth there are flavours of concentrated, savoury, black currant then spicy, tight tannin. Simple. A little alcohol warmth encroaches on the finish. Hmm

2010 Château Haut-Bergey
France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Aromas of toast, meat, slight mint, ripe black fruit and touches of coffee and a slight bonfire note. In the mouth the wine has fine, persistent, talc like tannin with flavours of toast and meaty, savoury, concentrated black fruit. Medium plus length. Medium plus body and mouthfeel. Mmm. I think this will blossom with time.
