Introduction

This was a very generous overview of current and ripe vintages of Clos des Pape after a visit at the Domaine.

Perfectly stored wines tasted in the tasting cellar of the domain.

  • 2013 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 91 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    A bouquet of Anise, some pear and peach as well as some minerality. On the palate good structure. It will need some time to integrate all the different components which needs at least 5 years.

  • 2009 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 92 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    A bouquet of Anise, some pear, honey and almond as well as some minerality. On the palate good tannin and acidity structure and quite opulent. You can drink it now but I would keep it for another couple years.

  • 2005 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 95 Points

    Beautiful burgundian nose of baked apples and subtle minerality. The wine has a great balance and I think its at the top right know, which lets me come to the conclusion, that Vincent Avrils white for my taste are best drunk after about 10 years.

  • 2000 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 93 Points

    Perfect bottle tasted at the wineries cellar. Notes of brioche, again baked apple and now in perfect balance. Tertiary aromas take over and obviously it needs to be drunk within the next couple years if from a good cellar. Some friends found this the best of the little white vertical (2000-2013).

  • 2012 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape 95 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    Very young and focussed with a bouquet of Cherries and spices like cardamon. A very fine tannin structure with a balanced acidity should give this wine a long drinking window.
    I would cellar it for at least 3-5 years and than enjoy it over the next 1-2 decades.
