Bright straw yellow, aromatic nose of lime,citrus, peach, apricot and floral. It has nice tangy acidity on palate, along with citrus, floral and hints of mineral. Good lengthy finish but with a little bitterness at the end. Could be still young but I have limited experience on Vernaccia.
Brownish core with orange mahogany tinge, fully mature if not over the hill from the appearance. Showing subtle bouquet of tobacco, bacon, smoke, blackcrrant and dried frut. Balance, elegant and mellow on palate, along with sour plum and blackcurrant. Amazingly still holding well but fruit starts to dry out after half an hour. Medium finish and tannins has fully dissolve.
It has the mature appearance, dark ruby core with brownish tinge, lifted nose of black fruit, blackcurrant, blackberry, dried plum and smokiness at the tail end. Floral palate with dried fruit, it has good smooth entry and high acidity. Medium finish, spicy aftertaste and almost dissolve tannins, soft and fine.
It has a good vibrant hue, clear ruby core and brick red tinge. Complex bouquet of earth, farmyard and leather interwoven with blackcurrant, sweet fruit, spice, red fruit and vanilla. Holding very well on palate still showing some freshness with a nice perfume edge, lots of blackcurrant, sweet fruits, slight farmyard and mushroom. Mellow down but showing good intensity with seamless mid-palate. Very lively acidity, velvety tannins and long lingering finish with roasted coffee aftertaste. Another excellent aged Rioja from 1978, can still hold for another few more years.
Good clear ruby hue, still tightly wound after decanted for 1-2 hours. Plenty of floral and violet on the nose with some red fruit but not showing much here. Robust wine in full bodied frame but very closed on palate. Finish is long and persistent with firm chewy tannins. Should be an excellent Barolo but pity not showing today. Reserve my rating and will revisit it in future.
Dark ruby with brick red tinge that look youthful. Dried fruit aroma along with blackcurrant, slight raisiny, baked cake and hints of herbs. Still robust with lively acidity but fruits drying out, showing capsicum, brioche and slight mintiness. Long finish and almost dissolve tannins.
