Toast, wax, lime and florals. Fantastic balance, delicious bright fruit and good acidity and it seems to be starting to develop along its very high potential curve.
Disgorged April 2013. Captivating. Oyster shell, floral, lemon, sea spray, light toast and a musky florality. Creamy mouthfeel and stunning fruit purity. Has complexity already but the purity just soars. I saved some in my glass til the end of the lunch and it was just as good if not better. What a great wine - easily the best vintage I've tried from the Val Vilaine vineyard.
Pear, apple, herbs and apple aromas. Really like the mouthfeel on this wine - it has bright acidity combined with medium richness fruit. Really good length to it. Too young but still excellent.
Lemon, floral, slate and apple aromas - there is a touch of hay to it as well. Delicate fruit and a real mineral acidity that drives the wine. Excellent use of sugar to counter the acidity without being the focus. Will try to leave my other bottle for 8-10 years if I can.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Served blind. Roses, earthy, spice, graphite and cherry. Seems to be showing some complexity, the fruit is really delicate and poised. One of the better 04s I've had recently but not one for the long term I don't think, another 5 years will probably put it in a good place.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Spice, violets, minerals and oak aromas. Muscular tannins frame the palate, it has some freshness but the tannins are the focus right now. Needs plenty of time before revisiting.

Served blind. Pretty aromatics, pepper, cherry and graphite. Good red fruits on the palate, medium length with a nice tannin backing. Really enjoyable.

Apricot, lime, some apple and a light oxi note. Medium bodied, there is some flinty acidity lifting things really well. Good length and interest.

Earthy, licorice and VA on the nose. The palate is okay but there isn't depth or complexity - rather bland really. Not a good showing.

Blueberry, chocolate, charcoal and a massive dose of oak and alcohol. Alcohol and traces of bitterness behind the intense fruit. This is dreadful.
