The 2012 Collection of Olivier Lamy of St. Aubin

We tasted through 9 of Lamy's whites and 1 red. The whites were solid, as usual. The single red, a new vineyard for Lamy, was the surprise for me.

  On the sweet side. Crisp. Citrus. Good salinity and nice acidity.

• 2012 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin La Princée Blanc

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin

  A little plain and subtle. Fruit was muted and it did not have same acidity as Chataigners.

  Very solid, and one of my favorites on the night. Great acidity. Touch of sweetness. Orchard fruits. Nice concentration.

• 2012 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Blanc

  Consistently one of Lamy's better wines and this year is no different. Zinging acidity, lemon cream pie filling. Great concentration. This is wound a little tight right now but should really round into form.

• 2012 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chateniere Blanc Vieilles Vignes

  Tough comparison to Chez Edouard. I thoroughly enjoy the zinging acidity of Chez Edouard, and the Chateniere lacked a little of acidity. Slightly herbal and rustic.

• 2012 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Blanc

  Concentrated. Deeper color. Nice spice, fruit and minerality. Packed with character. This is very solid. It probably needs some time for everything to fall into place, but it is a classy offering.

• 2012 Hubert Lamy Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Vieilles Vignes

  Compared to En Remilly, it was a bit lacking. It did not pack the same punch, but on its own, this was surprisingly good. Good acids. Nice apple orchard fruits. Again, probably on the simpler side when compared to other wines at this price point, but good overall.

  On the simpler side for me. Oaky on the nose, with spice and citrus on the palate. Did not have same character as some of Lamy's other whites we tasted tonight. Surprised by the price point.

• 2012 Hubert Lamy Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Gravières Vieilles Vignes

  Surprisingly good. Nice concentration. Spice, sappy with nice bright fruit and acidity. i was not a huge fan of Lamy's reds before this. They always were a bit too rustic and herbal for me. This is a big change and may signal good things to come with this offering.
