Faiveley white tasting

Introduction
Tasting of a number of Faiveley whites in the lower and mid-price segment at a local retailer. We started with the basic wines and drank our way up.
Flight 1 (9 Notes)
Closing
No real surprise here, the quality of the wines was closely correlated to the price and nothing really outstanding that would have made me buy, even though I liked the Les Clos and the Puligny-Montrachet.. My wife did not care about any of the wines we tried.
2011 Faiveley Chardonnay Bourgogne Joseph Faiveley 87 Points
France, Burgundy, Bourgogne
Faiveley's entry level white. A muted nose here with a bit of citrus, a bit rough on the palate, short to medium finish. Pleasant and should be fine with food but really nothing to write home about

2012 Faiveley Mercurey Blanc 87 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey
Compared to the 2011 Bourgogne, this had clearly a nicer and more fragrant nose, the palate was more oily but not particularly expressive and a short to medium finish. A tick above the basic Bourgogne because of the nose but overall more a difference in style than in quality. 87-88

2012 Faiveley Mercurey Clos Rochette Blanc 88 Points

Compared to the basic Mercurey from the same vintage this was more complex, particulary on the nose. Similarly oily and rather inexpressive palate and modest finish. 88-89

Faiveley's basic Chablis. A very pale yellow in the glas. A crisp and fresh nose with a lot of citrus, a bit thin on palate and lacking concentration

2012 Faiveley Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 89 Points

Much more fruity than the basic Chablis. White flower. A more oily palate and a medium finish. Nice.

2012 Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 90 Points

Beautiful, complex nose with some toast. A bit tight on the palate. A touch of exotic fruit on the palate. Medium plus finish.

Complex nose with some dry hay and grass. Peach on the oily palate. Medium finish.

2011 Faiveley Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 92 Points

Surprisingly sweet and fruity for a Chablis. On the flip side not a lot of the usual minerality here. Medium finish.

2010 Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain 93 Points

Complex nose with some toast. Some green grass, exotic fruits. Long finish. Clearly the best wine of the tasting for me.
