Introduction

Lovely home-cooked rooftop dinner to celebrate Chris' visit from the UK.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2006 Domaine de Montille Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Le Cailleret 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

Delicate green-tinged gold colour. Muted nose of melted butter. Palate is much more open........lovely: ozone, flinty minerals, Epsom Salts, limes, fresh lemon, lovely stream-rounded pebbles. Big, long and resonant finish. Superb. 92+

  • 2002 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru En Orveaux 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

Light transparent lamb's blood colour. Nose is quite loamy, sous bois, lots of fruit, all fresh and nicely mature. Palate is mid-toned piano notes of acidity, tons of early summer strawberries. Reasonable length and resonance. Fresh and vibrant. Enjoyable but not remarkable.

  • 2001 Roberto Voerzio Barolo Cerequio 93 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Bright black-red cherry colour which is translucent but deeply opaque at the core. Nose is beautiful violets and roses, super lifted nail varnish, tar, rose petals.....very complex but still quite closed. Palate is perfect-pitched violets and and lovely dry finish of red brick dust. The tannins are integrating nicely at this stage of its evolution. Mild but very persistent resonance. Beautiful.
