Rhone valley wine

Introduction

Few days before we discussed about Cotes du Rhone wines for daily use.
Hugo invited more friends and shared few more bottles, while I brought the two Janasse CDR.

  • 2010 M. Chapoutier Côtes du Rhône Belleruche 88 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

    aired for 1 hour
    dark red-purple
    complex fruity-earthy-spicy nose, with strawberry & violet perfume, some oak-vanilla aroma and fresh earthy clove note.
    medium bodied, fresh, soft tannins, ripe sweet raspberry, spices and wood note, persistent finish, with chocolate, vanilla and butter.
    can age 1-3 years more though is drinking nicely now.

  • 2011 Domaine de la Janasse Côtes du Rhône 88 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

    Dark transparent purple
    Nose of blackberry fruit with smoky, liquorice and vanilla oak notes.
    Moderate bodied, dark fruits, fine tannins, good acidity level, smoky & liquorice flavours, very long aftertaste.

  • 2012 Domaine de la Janasse Côtes du Rhône Villages Terre d'Argile 88 Points

    Dark transparent purple
    Nose of intense mix of black cherry, ripe fig, sweet spice and foliage
    Moderate-full bodied, intense dark fruits flavours that stay for long time, earthy tones, sour plum with medicinal cherry hints. Very long aftertaste. A Cote du Rhone with a character!

    enjoyable nose complexity, with balanced fruitiness and earthy aromas. full bodied, firm tannins, old wood with fruit in a secondary phase, ripe red berries and leather, rustic with an enduring finish. value for money wine!

  • 2005 M. Chapoutier Hermitage La Sizeranne 91 Points

    quality mature fruity aroma with hints of secondary
    rich, full body, still quite tannic, balanced acidity, good harmony, improved a lot since my last tasting of this wine, though can further age 3-5 years till its optimal drinking period.

Closing

Not only the wines were enjoyable - but I must mention the great cheeses and cold-cuts that Hugo shared with us. Bravo!
