Flight 2 (2 Notes)

  • 2002 Château Mouton Rothschild 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Forward and full nose of dark fruit, dark chocolate, some earth and cassis. This all carried through to the palate that was rich and round, almost modern. Plenty of depth and while this is drinking well right now, it will evolve. Nice surprise.

  • 1997 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Richebourg 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru

Another mediocre bottle--some are great, some are just good.

Flight 3 (3 Notes)

  • 1985 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

From a perfect looking bottle with a fill almost up to the cork. Outstanding nose of earth, dark fruit, herbs, subtle green pepper. Beautifully silky Pichon texture. Fully mature and round in the mouth. Great smooth finish. Perfect time to drink this wine.

  • 1985 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien

Slightly better than the last time I had this. More emphasis on the earth and leather. Great round texture with a nice red fruit streak on the palate.

Surprisingly fresh on the nose and palate. Mix of earth, dark fruit, herbs and red fruit. Open, soft and easy in the mouth.

Great nose of grilled meats, spice, herbs and red fruit. Bottle was in great condition and this was quite fresh on the palate.

  • 1990 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Another nice bottle from the same source. Lovely charcuterie and herbs on the nose. Round and fresh in the mouth. Great ripeness and balance.

  • 1990 Château Léoville Barton 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien

Dark fruit and coffee on the nose. Round, plush and wonderfully balanced in the mouth. I don't know what it is, but I always get this burnt rubber note with LB and this was no exception.
