    100% old vine Grenache
    double decanted 2 hours before
    elegant top-level Chateauneuf du Pape perfume of jammy, black cherry liqueur, fennel, plum, garrigue and kirsch. promising already.
    full bodied, rich, velvety, intense, powerful and layered with a combination of optimally ripe, juicy berries, mouth filling with flavours and purity of black and red fruits. a symphony of joy.
    long & delicate high quality finish that lasts a minute.
    the best vintage off Usseglio mon Aieul IMHO - already entered its optimal drinking window.

  • 2007 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes 97 Points

    double decanted 2 hours before
    perfect at opening, but some minor deterioration within 2-3 hours.
    (happened twice with the 2005 vintage till the wine wasn't drinkable)
    dark opaque purple
    intense aroma of black cherry, earth, animal, pepper, spice and a touch of oak-vanilla
    full bodied, rich, thick, intense, mouth filling and rich array of flavours
    dominant finish with structured fleshy ripe cherries

  • 2007 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée da Capo 98 Points

    double decanted 2 hours prior to enjoying
    upon opening it seemed to me that the barrel sample I tasted 4 years ago was greater, moe rich and concentrated.
    nevertheless, this wine is superb.
    present rich aroma of dark fruits, leather, earthy chocolate with harmony of oak
    full bodied, rich, concentrated, firm tannins, good acidity, symphony of dark berry fruits, quality garrigue, licorice, all in great harmony.
    alcoholic long & seducing finish, this is a beautiful and complex wine that entered its drinking period from now for at least 15 years.

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    double decanted 3 hours before drinking
    classic rustic nose of CDP with ripe fruits, earthy spice, some herbs and garrigue
    medium-full bodied, round tannins, nicely textured, with loads of red and black berries, strawberry and herbs. very enjoyable and present finish.
    already at optimal drinking period and for the next 10 years at least.

    nose of ripe red & black forest fruits with herbs & spices notes
    full bodied, firm round tannins, good acidity, rich dark cherry fruit flavours, sweet chocolate, truffle, all in great harmony and enjoyable long finish.
    this wine is ready now and for the next decade

Closing

The wines were all great and it was a very enjoyable evening.
While none merits a score of 100 - the wines were at very high level.
The food was always very good with the cooking of Fiorella, ignoring the basic decor of the location.
