A couple of wines today while watching the Browns prove they are still the Browns, and Brian Hoyer prove he should worry about preparing for the game instead of Johnny Football.
When does the NBA season start?
2002 Girard Winery Petite Sirah 90 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley
Allowed to breathe for about an hour prior to kick off. The nose is nice with black raspberries, charred wood, black pepper. With a bit more air, this seemed to dry out a bit on the nose. Still nice though. The palate has a lot of boysenberry. Dried wood. Some black pepper. Medium bodied. Has a nice complexity to it. Flirts with greatness then comes back. Very nice. No hurry.

2007 The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 90 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
I can see how some might dismiss this. I really enjoyed it though. Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, sour cherries and a bit of funk. Very soft and accessible. Juicy cherries. Enough fruit but not a ton. Nice balance. Love the acidity and the texture as it carried the sour cherry fruit. Nice finish.
