Flight 1 (8 Notes)

  • 2005 Primo Estate "La Biondina" 84 Points

    Australia, South Australia, Adelaide

Bottle variation - I tasted from 4 bottles (all screwcap closed) and they were all different; one was oxidised, one had stinky sulphur, one had a lesser degree of sulphur, and one was OK so this review is of that one. Straw colour, grapefruit flavours with a backing of sweetness and tangy finish. But the bottle variation means this is one wine/vintage I will avoid - though I have one unopened bottle in the fridge still. 12.5% £9.99

  • 2004 Nepenthe Riesling 79 Points

Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills

Attractive lime yellow colour, powerful stench of diesel on nose, diesel follows through on palate with some lime flavours and high acidity but I'm finding it one -dimensional. I don't like this wine. £11.99

  • 2005 Battle of Bosworth 83 Points

Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

Chardonnay with a little Viogner, organically grown on it sown roots. It should offer more, but its clean and tangy with a short finish and thats all. 13.5%abv £10.99

  • 2003 Green Point Chardonnay 89 Points

Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Yarra Valley

Oaky and buttery, some redeeming tangy character, clean and fresh and well made, a technically good wine but didn't engage my emotions. £13.99

  • 2002 Chapel Hill Sangiovese il Vescovo 83 Points

Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

Dark sullen tawny colour, sour cherry and mint flavours at first then acidity comes up from under with a whack, very tanninc finish taling off with acidity. Tannins and acids outweigh the fruit. 13.5%abv £11.89

  • 2003 Nepenthe Tempranillo Limited Release 74 Points

Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills

Terrible stinky cabbage nose, very off putting. Cabbage follows through and there are some dry raisins, cloves, and acidic cherry. This reminds me more ofsome over-the-hill old Burgundy rather than anyTempranillo I've had before. Unpleasant. 13.5% £13.75
