  Some maturity showing.
  Clean smelling, sweet berry fruit.
  Fruity with a hint of sweetness, balanced tannins and acidity, simple, quite a youthful taste but drinking well, good length.

  Some aging.
  Mature nose, a little oaky, sweet fruit underneath - interesting.
  Oak in the mouth, welcome rather than intrusive, fruity, balanced, smooth and very youthful, quite long. Keep 3-5 years at least.

  Orange brown rim.
  A complex nose, liquorice and spice, interesting.
  Fruity, still very tannic, will work with food but it's still young, quite long. Keep at least 5 years.

  Just translucent and showing age.
  Lots of complexity vanilla over vegetal notes.
  Juicy sweet fruit in the attack, serious, full, sweetness in the finish, very long. Needs about 10 years to mature.

  Quite light coloured, distinctly brown.
  Slightly vegetal notes over lovely fruit aromas.
  Sweet juicy fruit in the attack, lovely balance, savoury mid palate, very long.

  Less age than you'd expect in the colour, legs.
  Very perfumed, dissipating into plummy fruit.
  Sweet and juicy fruit, black cherries and plums, but it tastes of a Rhone style!

  Complex animal notes, very attractive.
  Wow, it's all potential at this stage, there's fabulous fruit, oodles of tannic grip, very long. Open your next bottle in 10 years to reveal the full potential.
