Drop dead gorgeous nose. Crisp and cut. Steely minerals, powdered stone, cumin, blue slate, crisp peas and grass. So elegant it curls your toes: so perfumed. It's like someone crushed up a bunch of pebbles and made a milkshake out of them. Lean and racy on the palate with stones, stones, stones - peach pit, grass - herbal, cumin. Such poise with great cut. Stone and peach pit finish. Superb. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.
From Zak. Deeper, more golden than the 01 Achleiten. Nose is deeper with peach, stones, minerals, broth, creamy, spicy, smoky. Powerful, deep - brothy, peach, steely, saline ... concentrated. Peach pit and saline, long finish. Went back and forth between this and Achleiten and finally figured it was Sophie's choice - fuck it. The Klaus has the depth, while the Achleiten has poise. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20. Thanks Zak!
Salil's bottle, and this is 2 steps up from the bottle he recently bought to Umi Nom. Old Riesling nose - petrol, spicy, peach, creamy but lively. The palate is spectacular with peach, spice, crisp, lime and citrus build. Quite plush but lovely, on the soft side but has a racy undertone. Peach and creamy on the finsh. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 16.5/20.
My bottle. Right out the gate, this announced itself as a contender. The nose is smokey, tropical: mango, papaya; spicy, marmalade, pungent. Thick yet lively. Deep beyond belief. This has the penetrating power of Javier Bardem's air-powered cattle-killer from "No Country for Old Men." This completely takes over your mouth, enters sharp and spicy, tropical - pink grapefruit, guava, electric and potent, spicy, herbal. Pink grapefruit and spice on the huge finish. Legendary. Nose - 6/6, Palate - 6/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5-2/2 = 19/20.

Watermelon, tea, curry, lemongrass, exotic as hell, lime, tangerine. Thick - melon, spice, tropical and bacon. This is thick and rich but zingy as hell. Finish is tropical and spice. Not the structure of the 01 but in a perfect place right now. Nose - 6/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.
Suzanne's bottle. Thick with bacon, herbal, musty, peachy, grapefruit. This is very young, concentrated and lively. Still young on the palate as well - with peach, spice, lychee, durian, bacon, thick and delicious. Great to drink this beside the 98 Auslese. No detailed scores, but probably 17+/20.
My bottle. From 375ml. Brought this so Salil could have a birthyear BA. Dark orange-brown. Nose of tea and marmalade, tangerine, spicy, fruitcake, almost candied. Great acid - tangerine, tea, and spice. Orange, great spice - tangy. Finish is smooth and tangy with tangerine and spice. This is gentle, soft and mature, with a killer acid tang. Wonderful. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5-6/6, Finish - 5.5-6/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5-18.5/20.
