Third generation wine maker Edouard Moueix was leading through this informative and interesting tasting at the WA event A Matter of Taste n Singapore.

Informative tasting as one could clearly see the influence of relatively slight differences of weather and the changes in the blending on a wine that delivers consistently high quality. Not surprised to hear that my preferred vintage of Dominus (2008) was a cooler one in Napa. Also preferred the elegance of the more blended 2008 to the almost pure Cabernet Sauvignon expression in 2010.
2001 Dominus Estate 93 Points

Color starting to show some maturity. Cool notes on the nose, lead pencil, herbs, some oak, red and dark fruit, medium tannis, medium + fininsh. Leaner than the 2002 but similar in style. According to Edouard Moueix this is 81% CS, 10% CF, 5% PV and 5% Merlot.

2002 Dominus Estate 94 Points

Similar in style to the 2001 but a bit bigger and bolder. A touch more red and dark fruit covering the tannins here. According to EM this is 85% CS, 8% CF, 4% PV and 3% Merlot

2006 Dominus Estate 92 Points

A bit closed and in a slightly awkward place. More oak than the 01/02 but not showing more fruit. Currently lacks a bit expression and very different to the still rather primary 08. According to EM this is 91% CS, 6% CF and 3% PV. Would hold. 92+

2008 Dominus Estate 95 Points

Beautiful. Unlike the 06, this is still showing the generous a slightly sweet primary fruit. Very nice balance right now given there is a sound structure behind all this. Long finish. My favorite vintage of the tasting. According to EM this was a more difficult vintage with more rain. Strict selection resulted in a small harvest. 83% CS, 13% CF, 4% PV

2009 Dominus Estate 92 Points

This was the richest and biggest wine of the tasting with plenty of dark fruit. For me this is borderline overripe with slight notes of tar. According to EM this is 86% CS, 10% CF and 4% PV. Still nice but my least preferred wine of this tasting.

2010 Dominus Estate 94 Points

On the nose this is clearly more oaky and herbal than the previous vintages. Starting to close down on the palate now? Very clearly dominated by the Cabernet Sauvignon here. According to EM a vintage of extremes with a cold start an a very hot summer. Confirming the unusually high CS share with 95% CS and 5% PV (the CF did not mature well as it had closed down due to extreme temperatures)
