Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2007 Tenuta Greppo (Biondi-Santi) Rosso di Montalcino 91 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino

    Popped and poured.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasted oak, cheesy earth, raspberry, red cherries, and hints of leather. Developed.
On the palate, dry, bright high acidity, medium alcohol, medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of integrated toasted oak, sour red cherries, raspberries, and leather. Medium finish.
Very good quality Rosso di Montalcino. Classic high acidity and red fruits from Biondi Santi. Excellent nose. Lower level of intensity and finish than a Brunello. Probably drinking at its peak now.

Very good quality Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon from McLaren Vale. Oak still dominant at this stage and will need at least another 3-4 years to integrate. Good stuff that can only get better.
