2011 Kumeu River Pinot Noir Village 84 Points
New Zealand, North Island, Auckland, Kumeu
25% of the wine matured in oak
The nose is clean, medium intensity, spicy notes with red cherry, a few vegetal notes, ripe strawberry, an overall "warm" character, youthful to developing.
The wine is dry, body and intensity is medium, so is acidity and alcohol (13%), tannins are medium-, light red cherry notes, a few vegetal notes again, lacks concentration with a short finish.
Good quality, med price, drink now. A nice everyday wine

2009 Greywacke Pinot Noir 89 Points

45% matured in new oak for 14 months.
The nose is clean, medium+ intensity, dense red cherry, ripe fruit, tobacco leaves, a very pleasant thin layer of oak, rich character, youthful to developing.
The wine is dry (or dryish?), medium body and intensity, medium alcohol (14%), medium/medium+ acidity, balanced overall, big fruity notes of cherry and berry, pomegranate notes, alcohol creeps back, with a med/med+ finish.
Very good quality, premium price, drinking now but can hold

2012 Burn Cottage Pinot Noir 92 Points

The nose is clean, med+/high intensity, a big basket of fruits, overripe red cherry, black cherry, plum, cinnamon flavored candy, spicy notes in the background over a thin layer of oak, very fresh and youthful.
The wine is dry, medium+ body and intensity, medium alcohol (13.2%), medium acidity, medium+ tannins, red and black cherry, dense and well structured, higher spicier notes in the palate, pomegranate again with clove in the long finish.
Outstanding quality, premium price, drinking now but needs time to breathe, it will definately hold. A beautiful wine

The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, medium alcohol, med/med+ acidity, med tannins, dense cherry and strawberry, cranberry, beautifully structured, almond scented medium+ finish.
Outstanding quality, premium price, drinking now and will hold more. An intellectual wine

The nose is clean, med intensity, beautiful ethereal and spicy nose, cinnamon, caramel, red cherry, almond and walnut, youthful.
The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, medium alcohol (13%), medium acidity, medium tannins, red cherry, red currant, a few vegetal notes too, medium concentration, with a long finish.
Outstanding quality, premium price, drinking now but can hold. The rest of the table loved this one

2007 Domaine Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir 92 Points

The nose is clean (but needs time to breathe), medium+ intensity, dense nose, high tones of black cherry, plum, ripe strawberry, tobacco leaves with vanilla and almond due to a beautifully integrated oak, feels developing.
The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, medium alcohol and acidity, medium+ tannins, the palate copies the nose, dense, well concentrated, red cherry, spicy notes in the long finish.
Outstanding quality, premium price, it could hold more but its sinfully tasty now.
