AP #17 under screwcap. Grapefruit, lime and mandarin along with a smidgen of earth on the nose. Good purity, in the style that Muller is renowned for - the sweetness is barely apparent with excellent balancing acidity coming through across its length. I returned to the rest of the bottle 3 days later and it was much the same, but the fruit had a little bit more depth while the balance remained stellar. Obviously will benefit from time and I want to leave my next bottle for at least 5 years before checking back in.
Strawberry, smoke and nice floral perfume with a light stalkiness to it. Fresh and lifted palate, the acid does stick out a little bit, though I thought it fared better with food. Rather refreshing overall though, this would be a nice option on a warm summer day.
Blackberry, mint, sappy and chocolately, there is a bit of iron and graphite too. Well balanced, with texture that provides plenty of interest. A nice blend of youth and experience at the moment. I liked this even more than the very good 2010 I tried early this year.

Milk chocolate with Hunter earthiness and some rather nice dark floral perfume to it as well. Good freshness on the palate, the fruit has weight but it doesn't lose its drive. Nicely composed wine that should drink well for the next 5 years.
New Zealand, North Island, Auckland, Waiheke Island
Cherry and bretty - which I don't often mind but I did find it rather distracting on this wine as there was not a lot more fruit evident. The brett also gives it more age that it should be showing with any freshness on the palate left overwhelmed by the barnyard. Hopefully not a representative bottle.

Mineral, chocolate, white pepper, stems, raw sugar and plenty of cassis to it - with time it became more spicy but the initial elements always remained. There is good fruit depth on the palate, the tannins and acid give it good structure but it remains reasonably approachable. Give it time to develop further if possible.

Oak and lavender with some earth and a rubber undertone. The fruit shows boldness but doesn't exactly have a lot of interest, though at least the oak doesn't overwhelm on the palate due to the fruit power.
Chocolate, licorice, dark berries and a tiny hint at alcohol heat if you are looking hard enough. Bold fruit on the palate, though it only dips into overripeness rather than a full blow out. There is good freshness, probably as a result of the alcohol component. Nice to try, but a half glass was enough for me.
Peach, lychee, mango and pineapple on the nose. The gentle spritz helps to slightly tame the 170g of residual sugar and the fruit has good intensity, though it is decidedly tropical in nature. An enjoyable way to end the night.
