    France, Champagne

    Lemon zesty with creamy coconut and pineapple notes, very crisp and delicious in a youthful, vibrant manner. I think I shall hide a couple of bottles where I can't find them for the next 20 years...

  • 2000 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Deliciously fragrant aromas upon opening; ripe full notes of black currant, crushed rocks, violets. But after awhile, a strange (though not unpleasant) green note crept in, which I thought strange then I saw other notes on CT. Heavy bodied on the palate with tannins still prominent, I'd say give this wine plenty of time and see if the green note softens further. (But they are tough little critters...)

  • 2004 Château Léoville Poyferré 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien

    I've had plenty of this wine in the past year and it has never disappointed. Fruity and complex, with a dark brooding mineral character and slightly creamy edge, this is a classic LP from a very drinkable vintage that is unfortunately sandwiched between two headline-grabbing Bordeaux years -- hence offering terrific value for us drinkers.
