  Medium yellow. Highly aromatic citrus. Light to medium weight. Crisp fruit, nice acidity, and some minerality. Nice basic white.

• 2012 Château Coupe Roses Minervois Champ du Roy

  France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Minervois

  Deeper yellow. Deeply pitched fruit nose with some banana and peach. Medium weight, not too oily but some glycerine. Stone fruit flavors. Dry, good soil on the finish. Good.

• 2013 Mas Champart Saint-Chinian

  Medium yellow. Slightly high toned with a hint of glue. Viscous, lower register citrus fruit with youthful bitterness at the end.

• 2013 Domaine Massiac Viognier Vin de Pays d'Oc

  France, Languedoc Roussillon, Vin de Pays d'Oc

  Light to medium yellow. Slightly floral, a little sulfur. Fairly viscous with pineapple and slight residual sugar. Not my favorite style but not overdone either.

• 2012 Domaine de Fontsainte Corbières

  Medium red center, lighter edge. Pungent herbs and red fruit. Nice supple feel, clean fruit that is not overly ripe, some tar underneath and moderate tannins. Good for short term drinking.

• 2013 Château des Deux Rocs Cabrières Premices

  Medium ruby throughout. All thyme and herbs. Black fruit, lavender and licorice flavors. Excellent weight and mouth feel. Moderate tannins, tart finish, but this is still good to go now. Of the 3 reds, this is the one that most spoke of southern France.

• 2010 Domaine de la Grange des Pères Pays d'Hérault

  France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Pays d'Hérault

  Deep ruby core. Piney wood and herbal aromatics. Big, round entry. Very solid material and a multilayered feel. Complex array of blackberry, smoke, oregano, road tar and licorice bolstered by fine acidity. Excellent, very interesting, good potential for development.
