  • 2011 Alain Jeanniard Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits 88 Points

France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits

A great introduction to this domaine's Burgundy: precise, floral, bright yet structured. A very approachable wine, yet precise and held together with dusty tannins. Roses, ripe cherries, loamy notes. Would be a great by-the-glass list Pinot.

  • 2012 Alain Jeanniard Fixin En Combe Roy 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Fixin

Still very pretty and floral on the nose, but more pepper, grit and earthy tones. Red cherries and spice on a silky yet sturdy frame, plenty of tannins. Pretty red fruits with a spicy finish. Approachable now, but a but perhaps some time to settle down.

  • 2011 Alain Jeanniard Gevrey-Chambertin 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin

So perfumed, floral and elegant on the nose. The 2011 is just singing compared to the 2012s, which were full of potential but a bit hesitant. Pure and elegant on the palate, long and silky and full of red cherries and vibrant minerals, complex earthy and rocky elements. Structured yet refreshing and quite open. Plenty of time, but seems accessible now.

  • 2012 Alain Jeanniard Gevrey-Chambertin 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin

A bit more hesitant on the nose, compact. Darker notes of plums, violets and earth. Black cherries and plums on a firm tannic structure, along with notes of loam and granite. Needs time to show its full potential, but a very beautiful wine.

  • 2012 Alain Jeanniard Nuits St. Georges Les Poisets 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges

Earthy nose, leaves and soil, some granite and roses on top of dark plums. Actually quite attractive on the palate, sure there are plenty of firm tannins but it feels velvety. Complex notes of pickle, roses, loam and hints of cola. Beautiful but I’d love to taste this when it reemerges with secondary characteristics. Full of potential.

  • 2012 Alain Jeanniard Morey St. Denis Vieilles Vignes 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis

A bit compact, swirling coaxes out granite, soil, violets and dark plums. Surprisingly vibrant on the palate with fresh acid and firm tannins. Floral and elegant but full of chewy cherries and powerful earthy notes. Will be quite long-lived.

  • 2012 Alain Jeanniard Chambolle-Musigny 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny

A beauty but a bit tentative on the nose, still plenty of deep floral tones and compact red fruit. Firm with powerful structure yet it feels velvety, stays fresh from the acid. Black and red cherries and plums with earthy tones and a plethora of floral tones. Earthy finish. Tight but will eventually emerge.
