Introduction

Presented by Sandy Leckie with Lena Inger and Pippa Haywood

Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • 2002 Chateau Musar 90 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Just opaque, rust coloured rim but good central colour.
Attractive spicy perfume, flowers rather than fruit.
Fruity attack, well balanced, drinking nicely, warm fruity mid palate, good length, still very lively.

Flight 2 (1 Note)

  • 2001 Chateau Musar 89 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

    Light tawny and translucent.
Mature nose, animal development and dates.
Fruity attack, very attractive, balanced, sweet in the mid palate, long.
NOTE: This was a two bottle tasting and the second bottle was much less attractive; I would have scored it 84.

Lovely fruity attack, red fruit and raisins, fruity through the mid palate and finish, good length.

Flight 4 (1 Note)

  • 1999 Chateau Musar 90 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

    Orange rim, translucent.
Fairly closed nose but patience reveals some fruit and honey.
Fruity, high acidity, but this wine has a reserved character, maybe going through a dormant phase. It was lovely after an hour suggesting that decanting will pay dividends.

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Brown with a bricky rim, translucent.
A mature nose, gamey with sweet ripe fruit (figs).
Fruity with fantastic acidity, nicely integrated, a delicious old wine.
