Very pale straw in color. A tiny bit of oak spice on the nose with nice minerality. A tiny hint of sweetness on the palate with good acidity; some nice citrus, but less minerality than suggested by the nose. Nice, soft, clean, finish.

Somewhat reserved on the nose, especially in comparison to the Santenay blanc that preceded it in the tasting. Very cool mineral nose with a touch of oak. More full bodied on the palate with reasonable acidity, but definitely much broader than the Santenay. Shorter finish than I expected given the body.
Pale translucent ruby in color. Stems on the nose with other green notes. Bright red fruits follow with a suggestion of being candied. Great acidity, leaning in the tart direction; more herbaceous on the palate which transitions into good minerality. Pepper on the finish, which is somewhat sharp, with no tannin.
Much broader on the nose, with lots of earth and leather, maybe some funkiness with some spice in the background. A bit of green on the palate, with hints of cranberries and sour cherries. Less acidic than the Cyrot-Buthiau, but more well balanced, in this case meaning no sharpness on the finish. No tannin, but this finishes very bright.

Up to this point, most interesting/subtle nose with sour cherries, cranberries and spice. Maybe a hint of VA. All of this seemed to fade with time in the glass though. Sharp acidity on the palate, which is fairly tart and transitions into a relatively short finish.

Pale, translucent ruby in color. More spice and cardamom on the nose with lots of sour cherries and some bright raspberry notes. A bit of sweetness followed by good acidity and hint of stems. Very clean with a tart finish. Again, no tannin on the finish, even with a swish.

My favorite wine of the tasting. Somewhat reserved at first but, for whatever reason, I spent some time with this one and it opened up nicely. Never really forward, this had an elegant nose of soft cherries, a hint of vanilla and spice. Fantastic acidity and wonderful body which suggests richness; a very soft finish with a nice bit of structure to round things out.
More spice on the nose than the previous wine. A hint of earth and reduction with a good mix of sour and sweet cherries. Good fruit on the palate with a hint of sweetness. Great acidity with good balance and a beautiful finish with some structure to keep things in order.
The nose was reserved at first. It didn't seem to give me too much on the nose, even with some time in the glass, and it seemed far away from the kind of delicacy that I expect in Volnay. As this opened, it just seemed brash with a fair amount of seemingly rough tannin.

Some reduction on the nose at first. Opened up with some pretty black raspberries and some spice. Very big wine with lots of dark cherry on the palate. Great body and softer tannin than expected based on everything that came before.
2012 Château de la Charrière Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard Domaine Yves Girardin
