Closing
An interesting mix of wines and themes:
Lots of CdP showing 2 different schools: Grenache dominant blends and higher portions of Syrah. I really prefer the Grenache dominant ones- Bosquet des Papes and Marcoux.
Several Italians not tasting too different from one another: soft, new, fresher fruit, orange, cherry, strawberry. They kind of all blended into one another except for the Monpra which exhibited strong green pepper notes for just 10% Cab.
Interesting whites, hell whites at all are a win, but some of these were classic. Spatlese, Vintage Tunnina, Grillet.
2012 Bosquet des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Tradition
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Dark garnet with lighter rim; raspberry, dusty, herbs de Provence, garrigue, darker raspberry, young but still exhibiting nice red fruit, cement dust; softer, elegantly textured, lighter and not super sweet for its youth, already shows some complexity; very good, can't wait to try this in a couple years.

Crimson core with good clarity, orange in rim; dried cherry, wilted rose, orange oil, slight caraway, sandy, cedar; good cherry, cedar, orange oil; tasty.

See through crimson with orange hues at rim; slight olive brine, cherry, strawberry, roses; thinner texture, good acid; needs more air to really open up.

2006 Saint Cosme Côte-Rôtie

Dark core showing signs of age; a touch of vanilla, black pepper, brine, black olive, smoked meat, sour plum, very acidic, lacks a little finesse and balance; I still liked it but was not popular amongst the crowd.

2006 Talenti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Pian Di Conte

Crimson core that's see through, onion skin rim; elegant nose, classic, floral, sexy, orange oil, caraway; good depth, elegant palate, nice grip, fresh acid; very good.

2009 Massolino Barolo

See through light crimson almost to rim; sweet almost confected cherry, rose, high toned strawberry, tea; subtle power, cherry, sweet and tart strawberry; very fresh and drinkable.

2006 Domaine de la Mordorée Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de la Reine des Bois

Dark core with brownish rim; dark and figgy nose, ripe, round, dark raspberry, dark chocolate; ripe and round on the palate too, some grip, dark profile, brick dust, lower acid but not bad; I don't see this aging gracefully so you may want to drink sooner.

2010 Conterno Fantino Langhe Monprà

45% Nebbiolo, 45% Barbera, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon; decent clarity with light garnet rim; cherry, green pepper, sandalwood, floral and bright with a darker edge to it; softer tannin than I expected, sweet cherry, tart, fresh finish; very good.

2007 Markus Molitor Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese (Golden Capsule)

Light steely green; lighter candied lime, ginger, mango, some thinning of fruit from the age, slight bit of slate in the background; lightweight like a ballerina, not zingy but pleasantly fresh; good.

2010 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes

Darker core with brighter garnet rim; fresh bright floral nose, red cherry, raspberry, garrigue, sour cranberry, a bit headier leaning towards hammy but I feel this is just the youth, vanilla bean; palate continues with pure raspberry, red berries, purple flowers, slight grip in the back but almost ideal phenolics, no figgy character; pure fruit and goodness built to age gracefully- kind of reminds me of their '01 but better; delicious now but check back in 3-5 years, in 20 this should be brilliant and Burgundian.

Dull steely greenish yellow; subtler nose of pineapple, papaya, banana, melon, ripe, floral, waxy; similar to the nose the palate is waxy with rich yellow tropical fruit, heavier and showing some alcohol but not flabby, baby fat still hides some of the mineral; good.

Deep yellow with golden hues; honey, white flowers, melon, ripe red apple and pear, waxy, rich some age, oak?, lees; rich pineapple and apple, zesty, good cut though larger scaled, matchstick prickle on the finish; very interesting.

2009 Domaine de St. Paul Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Jumille
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
50/50 Grenach and Syrah; dark core with dull garnet rim; oxidative, very ripe, brick dust, cooked raspberry, marzipan, mesquite; fresher palate, very grainy, old-school blend but very ripe, drying bitter Grenache finish; lacks a little depth but still good.
