Introduction

Just a few tastes while picking up my ATP.

Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2007 Ridge Lytton Springs

USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley

This wine is picking up some of that aged softness. Round and a little sweet, a little lush. I tend to like these younger or older. At this age the Lytton and Geyserville have aged out of structure and energetic fruit but haven't developed the mature mellow fruit.

Round and a little soft. Orange peel with dark tar. An excellent vintage showing its class.

  • 2011 Ridge Merlot Torre Ranch Monte Bello

    USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains

Wow, this was really nice. Smoky, soft with some great toasted oak and just a little barnyard. Soft with dark fruit and light flowers. Like a modern styled Bordeaux. This was very good. I've never had this bottling before. I preferred it to the Estate Merlot. Must keep an eye on this.

Tight with a bit of citric acid. Some smoky oak. Bright. Needs time.
