  • 1999 Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

    This was a high risk for pre-mox but showed none. Initially very tight but not closed. Big oaky aromas with vanilla creme. once it opened up, it was soft and pleasing, not the robust chardonnay flavors I had expected. Nice acidity.

  • 1999 Lucien Le Moine Bonnes Mares

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

    Deep violets, plum, floral, a bit of tar. Juicy. Sweet cranberry, strawberry stems. Later cool tarragon. On the edge of modern but not, you could see how California winemaker might misinterpret they could make this wine, but they can't, it's minerally burgundy.

  • 1995 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

    Bright bright cherry. Violets, Poop that blew off. Milk chocolate, nutmeg, menthol, focused tannins. Suede, sweet vanilla. Later lipstick, then suede again. really ethereal and gorgeous.
