1999 Château Mouton Rothschild 94 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Dense and tight colour. Fruity, slightly reductive and dusty on the nose, dominated by blackcurrants and blackcurrant leafs. Massive, very fruity, tight, much of everything, but really needs many years. Great potential

Dark purple, tight appearance. Quite intense aromas of pure cabernet - blackcurrants and well integrated oak, just a hint of spices. A bit timid on the palate - closed? Pleasant and with fine fruit, but not really balanced

1996 Château Mouton Rothschild 96 Points

Colour quite similar to the '95, dark and dense, no hints of age. Really powerful nose, pleasant aromas of barneyard, slighly reductive. Dark tones of mocca, juicy dark cherries, bonfire. Delicate, almost feminine and perfumed on the palate, but at the same time really powerful and quite integrated tannins. Long, lingering aftertaste Great to drink now, but will improve.

Dark, dense colour. Slightly closed on the nose, just a hint of blackcurrants and Vicks. Gives the very false impression of a light palate, but this is really powerful. Massive, fruity, compact, lots of dark berries, and very high on the tannin meter. A bit more "square" than the '96 with had alongside it, but still a great wine that should be kept in the cellar for quite some years

Young appearance, dense ruby color. Light aromas of black fruits, slightly mute. Quite closed on the palate, doesn't give much away. Fine structure, but slighty drying tannins, and under-ripe fruit. Needs time? Good, but not great

Deep colour, pure ruby. Nicely evolved, quite mature on the nose. Aromas of blackcurrants and cedar, cigar box and tobacco. Fruity with dark berries, full bodied, powerful. Developed tannins, fine acid. Best of the first trio of 92-94-97.

Deep, clear transparent ruby colour. Slightly exotic, with incense, smoky tones, earl grey tea and blackcurrants. Great fruit, quite juicy on the palate, nuanced and complex. Full bodied with great fruit, tight and balanced. Fine tannins, long aftertaste.

Dark, dense core, slighty brick-coloured edge. Warm tones, quite flirtatious nose. Cedar tones and mature fruit. Nicely structured, full bodied, compact, very fine tannins. Mature wine, drinking very well now, will probably not improve.
