Dark core with larger garnet rim; dark fruit, kind of dried, cedar, tobacco, dense; rich mouthfeel, dark cherry, red currant, some vanilla (much more came out with more air almost in an American oak sort of way), denser mouthfeel, good structure, amazing balance for 2003 vintage; 90+.
Dark core with plum rim; intensely fruity nose, white pepper, red cherry, dark berry, granite, fresh, youthful, spice, plum skin; elegant, good acid and tannin, caressing texture; the lighter extraction led me to N. Rhone, really well made and delicious.
Very dark core with pale garnet rim; leather, dark cherry, currant, green pepper, dusty and deep nose, some cement; deep on the palate as well, ripe dark fruit, lower acid, slight chocolate, tart currant, oak influence gives this a polish not everyone was a fan of but I didn't mind it as much because it is already 6+ years old, soft but there is still some tannin; modern but tasty.
Very dark core with duller plum rim; tart berry, complex nose, raspberry, ripe, red apple skin; darker berry on the palate, tar, red apple skin, still some structure, some brown sugar; really impressed by this, it was kind of a beast still with enough to go another 10 years possibly.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Nuits Villages
See through dull ruby core with pale large rim; new, sour cherry, candied, very fresh, floral, candied strawberry; soft and silky, some vanilla, sour dark cherry, a bit light on depth and mid; tasty.
Cloudy core, darker crimson with onion skin rim; classic Nebbiolo nose, cherry, orange, roses, fuzzy texture; plummy on the palate, sweet fruit, very Nebbiolo but very soft, red apple skin, plump cherry, modern; called '06 Sandrone Valmaggiore because this seemed older with softened tannin, the fruit wasn't evolved but the texture says to drink sooner than better vintages.
