Introduction
It's already a traditional tasting initiated by Eli - tasting quality Israeli wines 10 years after the vintage
but since the 2005 was a greater vintage Eli decided to advance the tasting of the 2006 vintage
All wines are tasted blind, 4 flights, 2 bottles in each flight of similar grape variety (or blend)

Generally, most if not all of the wines seemed to be a bit over the peak; my interpretation is that this was caused by less than optimal cellaring conditions.
Nevertheless, all participants found it difficult to identify the specific grape of each flight...
2006 Margalit Cabernet Franc Single Vineyard Binyamina 88 Points
Israel, Samaria
transparent red-brown
tertiary aroma - somewhat over the peak and slightly oxidised
integrated tannins, still enough fruitiness, good acidity level, nice balance - but not impressing as expected from this wine.

2006 Vitkin Cabernet Franc 87 Points
Israel, Judean Hills, Ella Valley
transparent red - light purple
ripe fruity aroma - somewhat over the peak and slightly oxidised
integrated tannins, still enough fruitiness, good acidity level, oak-vanilla - but not impressing as I recall this wine.
