    At full maturity or slightly past, thus has always been a forward and easy to enjoy riesling which offers a beautiful honied nose with apricots and pear notes. The palate os suave and dry and perhaps finished slightly shorter than I would have hoper for. This is a great food wine as its gentle nature and dry finish does not fight with food and the supple fruit and honey nuance seemed to support some of the rounder aspects of the menu. A beautiful wine.

  • 2006 Hiedler Grüner Veltliner Maximum 93 Points

    Massive, rich and multi-dimensional. Grapefruit and honey, very mineral, considerable bottle age. This is still really fresh and in only very early maturity. There is a spice kick at the finish which adds lift. The 15% is completely hidden by the fruit and the wine comes across as beautifully balanced. Nice hit of oak on the nose and mid palate consigned this wine to more of a sipping between course wine (although it was a knock-out with comte cheese).

  • 2000 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Saint-Joseph 93 Points

    We caught this wine at its perfection of development (for my tastes). Currently offering a profound nose (no hyperbole) and a beautifully suave, supple and savory texture, this is a tremendous food wine. Bacon fat, earth, leather, refined red fruits and minerals. Lean texture with clean and smooth acid and a light but nuanced finish. This wine has just gotten better and better over the past years and is a poster child for the heights that (real world) syrah can attain. I can't wait to try the Chave Hermitage in this vintage!
