Introduction

Brief notes from the Saturday Grand Tasting. Overall impressions: The red wines fell into two broad categories, some were quite elegant and lighter styled (though not as light as 2011 in general); then there were wines that showed quite a bit of structure and more rustic character. Whites seemed a little stronger on average, though some could cross the line toward a bit of over-ripeness. In general, seems quite a successful vintage, though I'm not sure about the longevity of many of the wines (both red and white). Unfortunately, coupled with scarcity and high prices, it's a vintage to pick and choose very carefully.
