Pale in the glass. Quite fresh with a nicely yeasty element on the nose. Quite rich and rounded on the attack and through the mid palate. Light and fresh enough for an aperitif but enough weight to cope with food. Really quite engaging. ***1/2

Decanted. A worrying bronzed gold. Not oxidised though. When poured, it seems to lighten in the glass. Classic Meursault, rich, buttery, rounded, but increasingly delineated and mineral in the glass. When left after first course and returned to with cheese it seemed more shapely with great definition, but still showing some richness and leg. Impressive. ****
Lovely nose. Quite rich and lush but with a nicely savoury almost green edge that keeps it in check. Again, quite rich on the attack, but balanced by a minerality through the mid palate. Long. And lovely. The showgirl, with restraint. ****
Lovely classical St Julien nose, cedar, some blackcurrant, but overall more a case of elegance and restraint. A blue stocking rather than the turned up hem of the Cos. Long and smooth, with just a twinkle of the eye. Very smooth and harmonious and proper. Classic claret ****
Very proper. Quite dense blackcurrant fruit and blackcurrant leaf with a pinch of graphite. Smart. Not quite the density in the intensity for top flight, but very well presented — nicely pressed shirts and trousers, but may be a bit superficial. Enough substance to make an impression though. Tasty, fine, silky texture and quite persistent. A lovely, albeit properly restrained, blackcurrant sheen to this. Showing well. ****

Gorgeous colour. A really dense but bright and vibrant chestnut. Lovely nose, all brown sugar, nuts and spice. So smooth. Not a hint of heat or alcohol here, just smooth, gently nutty richness with a slowly building intensity and a very long finish. Gorgeous. ****1/2
